The Global Education Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of financial need as understood from the assessment of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid (FAFSA-demonstrated need). However, consideration is also given to need that may not be addressed by the FAFSA, and therefore it is not necessary to have FAFSA on file. International students can also be considered for this scholarship.
Apart from financial need, consideration is given to the following:
Quality of the applicant’s motivation
Educational fit of the study abroad program
Letter of recommendation
Students wishing to apply for a Global Education Scholarship must meet the following eligibility requirements:
GPA 2.5 or above
Fall semester 12 VT credits minimum
Winter session 3 VT credits minimum (fall and winter must equal a minimum of 12 credits)
Spring semester 12 VT credits minimum
Short term spring 3 VT credits minimum (short session plus spring semester must equal a minimum of 12 credits)
Summer terms 6 VT credits minimum (can be spread out over the whole summer, i.e. 3 credits abroad and 3 credits at VT
Enrollment in credit bearing programs (non-credit internships do not apply)
Enrollment in one of the following: VT partner university (either exchange or direct enroll), ISEP Exchange, and faculty-led programs (Third Party and Direct Enroll programs are not eligible)
