Semester Exchange at Chonnam National University

Due to the terms of the exchange agreement, this program is not accepting applications for the upcoming term.

Founded in 1952, CNU has remained committed to fostering global leaders and professionals. It is one of Korea’s most innovative universities with a reputation for its research, teaching and taking an important role in local communities. Located in the Chonnam province, southwest of Korea, CNU encompasses 16 colleges and 11 graduate schools. With 2,200 academic staff members, it provides comprehensive services to 35,000 students including 1,200 international students from 75 different counties in its strive to build a “World Class” University, meeting the “Global Standard” with an open campus and an administrative system.

Gwangju

The City of Light: With a population of 1.5 million, Gwangju Metropolitan City is the fifth largest city in South Korea. Gwangju has consistently played an important role in the history of Korea’s democracy and human rights movements. In particular, the May 18 Democratic Movement, in resistance against military rule, had set an example for many Asian countries aspiring for freedom and justice. The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Summit and the Women’s Forum in 2006 and 2007 respectively offered opportunities to raise awareness about the spirit of Gwangju, democracy, human rights, and peace around the world. Gwangju is also a city rich in culture and art, and always has ongoing exhibitions and performances making the city vibrant and colorful.
