Semester Exchange at Eastern Mediterranean University
With its highly developed infrastructure, prominent academic staff members, 20,000 students from 106 and 1,100 academics from 35 different countries, quality programs in English, the opportunity of learning a second foreign language, student exchange programs, rich sports, social and cultural activity opportunities, international accreditation, an international teaching context, and a diploma recognized throughout the world, EMU prepares its students for their international careers by educating them in becoming creative and competitive individuals with entrepreneurial skills.
EMU has been offering quality education through 100 undergraduate and school programs and 81 postgraduate and doctoral degree programs provided by 12 faculties, 5 schools and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.
Cyprus is the third biggest island in the Mediterranean and has a special geographical location with its proximity to Europe, Asia and Africa. The University is in Famagusta, the second largest city in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a historical city rich in culture and art. The 35,000 inhabitants of the city are hospitable to students from all over the world. The city offers a wide selection of accommodation, shops, restaurants and cafes, along with many places of historical and cultural interest.

This program is open to only undergraduate students in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). Students should be in good standing with a minimum overall GPA of 3.
In line with the growing demand of the tourism sector throughout the world, the Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduate program has been designed to bring up advanced, intermediate and entry level managerial candidates who possess intellectual and leadership skills.
Through multimedia lab integrated programs, in-class learning is supported by the integration of multi-media into the program. The worldwide used software FIDELIO aims to provide students with practical knowledge and an education which matches the needs of the scientific and technological era. Two demo kitchens are used to assist the students in gaining a thorough insight into the operation and management of a professional kitchen. Additionally, students are offered the opportunity of implementing theory into practice in Tower Restaurant by applying the service techniques they learned in their courses.
The campus also has a bookstore, a health center, a psychological guidance and research center, a post office, banks and ATMs, laundry services and internet cafes. Life at EMU is fun. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities and may join a wide range of social and cultural events in the university.
There are numerous student clubs and societies at EMU including tennis, basketball, volleyball, football, handball, cricket, chess, ceramics, journalism, art, science and culture, literature, folklore, drama and animation, music, cinema, photography and many more. EMU has 15 on-campus dormitory complexes that can accommodate over 7500 students. New students are given priority in placement. Students may also rent flats or rooms in private hostels in Famagusta. University Tuition & Comprehensive Fees

Study Abroad Administrative Fee
Participants in exchange programs will be charged a $300 administrative fee through the Bursar.
CISI Travel Medical Insurance (required)
Participants will be required to enroll in Virginia Tech's travel medical and security insurance coverage for the duration of the program. The cost is approximately $35 per month.
Room and Board
Room and board is not included in the exchange. Students are responsible for finding and arranging their own housing and meals. Estimated cost for housing ranges from 2,200 TL to 5,600 TL.
